I honestly don’t know where to start or how to start to describe Jana + Pete and their seriously magical, joyous and perfect wedding day.
I have known Pete for around 11 years. We go way back, back to my golden days of band camps and music eisteddfods, to local orchestras and brass bands. I moved countries, we grew up a little, and life got busy but I always held a dear spot for such a wonderful human being. Fast forward 9 years when I was back living in Gippsland and itching to grow in my skills with photography. Cue Jana’s beautiful entrance into my life. We meet through a Facebook Group we are a part of after doing a photography workshop with Tim Coulson, she attended in Perth and I in Melbourne. We got talking and on one of her visits home we meet face-to-face and chatted like old friends. Turns out they chose their wedding photographer, Louise after seeing my own wedding that she captured. They were to be wed in January 2014 and I was dying to be a part of such a wonderful day. Louise generously let me tag along for the day to assist her and it was…perfect. From the moment we arrived Jana + Pete’s love for one another and for all those who were sharing in their day was evident. They made Lou and I feel like we were a part of the family, and Jana even spoiled us with gifts to show her thanks for us being there (that caramel candle burns oh-so-sweetly in my home still, Jana!). Two remarkable human beings.
It is really hard to pinpoint a highlight but boy, I have NEVER boogied so hard at a wedding reception! The Soultanas were the perfect live band for the occasion. The one moment that had me stifling back tears would hands down be when Pete picked up a ukulele during his speech, started singing Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”, then was joined by his two siblings and parents who emerged from their seats singing along and playing their own ukulele’s. Holy moly, the love!.
Let the images tell the rest of this remarkable love story. Again, a huge thanks to Jana + Pete who so generously welcomed me to share in their day, and a massive thank you to Lou from Sunny + Scout Photography who let me assist her!
